Spice launches new MiTab tablet

Spice Mobiles have announced the launch of their new Mi-720 tablet, known as the MiTab. The device runs on Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. MiTab runs on a Snapdragon S1 800 MHz processor with an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit. It has a 17.5 cm (around 7 inches) WVGA capacitive touchscreen with an 800 x 480 resolution. As part of the features, the tablet has 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi. It has an in-built 155 MB of phone memory expandable upto 32GB via the microSD card slot. The device comes with a 4200 mAh battery and weighs 485 grams.

With all these specs, the device more or less looks like a similar-but-cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. A faster processor and Android 2.3 pre-installed would have made the MiTab a much better deal. According to Spice’s official website, the MiTab is available at an MRP of Rs. 16,490; however, the market operating price is expected to be Rs. 12,990.

Following are the specifications of the MiTab:

1.> 17.5 cm capacitive touch screen with an 800 x 480 pixel resolution
2.> 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
3.> GPS with A-GPS support
4.> Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
5.> 2 Megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera
6.> USB Tethering
7.> Memory expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card.
