Is Amazon Kindle Fire becoming biggest tablet launch ever?

Amazon had surprised a lot of people by launching a dual core Android tablet at $199 and it seems that it has struck the chord with consumers. According to the sales data received by Cult of Android, the great pricing of Kindle Fire might have led it to become the biggest tablet launch ever.

To remind you, Kindle Fire will go on sale starting November 15 and is in the pre-order stage right now. According to Cult of Android, Amazon is receiving over an average of 2,000 Fire orders per hour and around 50K per day and within first five days of its being listed on Amazon.com, Fire has already seen 250,000 pre-orders.

magine if the same trend continues till the shipping date then Amazon will have 2.5 million pre-orders even before it officially goes on sale. However, it is like imagining a perfect world, as these are pre-orders, we could expect lots of cancellations too among other factors, which could lead to lower than expected sales.

To give you a perspective on sales numbers, Apple’s original iPad garnered 300,000 unit sales on the first day and 1 million in first month, while iPad 2 was sold 2.5 million times in the first month. Clearly if Amazon manages to go on the same rate and gets 2.5 million pre-orders, it will certainly dwarf iPad sales numbers.

As Amazon never reveals the sales number, we would have to wait for another such leak after November 15 to get the sales numbers.

Analyst Expectations:

According to Strategy Analytics, Amazon is likely to sell more than 15 million units of its recently announced Kindle Fire tablet globally by year 2013-end.
