The Samsung Nexus Prime is one of the most anticipated smartphones, this year. With there being quite a few specification leaks from anonymous tipsters as well as a hands on video of what is said to be the handset, the wait for the official unveiling was finally coming to an end. Samsung was set to officially announce the device in three days. The event for the unveiling was set for October 11th, 2011 at the Samsung Unpacked event and the company even put up a teaser video with the catch-line ‘Something BIG is coming.’ In addition to this, Google was also set to officially debut their next big operating system – Ice Cream Sandwich. However, both companies have now pushed back the release dates of both the handset as well as OS.
According to a report by Engadget, the companies issued a joint announcement saying, “Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.” In a statement shortly after their announcement, Samsung issued a statement to tech website CNET stating the reason for the delay in the announcement was, “We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs's passing.
