Adobe for Android gets an update.

Adobe may be killing Flash for mobile devices soon and going HTML5, but it seems, they will not give up till they give it up. The company's released an update to Flash for Android, bringing with it some security fixes, including critical memory corruption, stack overflow and buffer overflow vulnerabilities. The update is version 11.1 and is recommended for all users. Another example that Adobe won't give up on Flash for mobiles till they give it up; Senior Director of Product Security and Privacy Brad Arkin tweeted, "Adobe will continue to ship security updates for Flash Player mobile after the final feature release”.

However, when they first announced in their blog post that they're killing Flash for mobile, they said that version 11.1 will be the last version of Flash for mobile that will be available. So you mobile Flash Player users will still be able to look forward to security fixes for a little while longer. They said, "Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer continue to develop Flash Player in the browser to work with new mobile device configurations (chipset, browser, OS version, etc.) following the upcoming release of Flash Player 11.1 for Android and BlackBerry PlayBook."

So while we have no indication of when Adobe will actually pull Flash for mobile away, we do know that it's not going to be too terribly soon. The desktop version of Adobe Flash has also been updated to 11.1. To get the updated version for your Android device, head on over to the Android Market.
