Appia-powered Vodafone Mobile Application Store launched in India.

vodafone India unveils an all new Mobile Application Store powered by white-label content provider, Appia. Vodafone dubs it as a 'one-stop shop' for all its mobile customers with 2G or 3G connections. Be it Java, Symbian, Android or BlackBerry, the Application Store offers over 10,000 free and paid apps to users irrespective of their handset. To access the Vodafone Mobile Store, users need to send an SMS saying 'VStore' or 'Apps' to 111 from their GPRS-enabled device and further click on the URL received. Alternately, one could go to live.vodafone.in and click on the Vstore link that appears on the Vodafone Live homepage.

Kumar Ramanathan, Chief Marketing Officer, Vodafone India Ltd said, “The store will present the best the world has to offer in mobile applications, giving Vodafone subscribers an expansive catalog of games and apps to entertain and enrich their lives.”

These apps offered are said to cover various genres including entertainment, social networking, games, local culture and more. The network carrier has also roped in local content providers like Hungama, Nazara, India Games and more. Appia, powering the Vodafone Mobile Store, supports over 3,500 varied devices and has more than 30,000 app developer partners.
