Casio brings EW-B100C, B2000C electronic dictionaries to India.

For all the word crunching and vocabulary building, Casio has launched two new electronic dictionaries in the Indian market - EW-B100C and EW-B2000C. Needless to say, the dictionary offers synonyms, antonyms and collocations of words. In addition, this handheld device allows translation, finding the correct spelling, checking plural, noun or past tense of verb and also parts of speech of a word. To help pronounce the word, the advanced dictionary possesses built-in speakers.

To begin with, the EW-B100C consists of eight complete Oxford dictionaries with examples, idiom search and jump search facility. Opting for Wildcard search allows finding the meaning of a word by simply typing a part of it. A Vocabulary List to stretch beyond those usual words and a text marker has been added. You can view all this on its screen with three font options. The device tips the scale at 175 grams and promises up to 100 hours of battery life (supports alkaline and rechargeable batteries). The EW-B100C reads a price tag of Rs. 7995.

Speaking about the target audience for these Dictionaries Kulbhushan Seth, Head Sales and Marketing, Casio India Company, said, “This dictionary is ideally suited for variety of users like Language students, middle & high-class students, Students preparing for professional English language exams, language training for BPO employees, B.Ed. schools, professional & people travelling to overseas markets. Moreover, it is very useful teaching tool in English classes wherein teachers can give live examples to students by connecting this dictionary with Casio projectors.”

The EW-B2000C is the higher end model which holds 11 Oxford dictionaries (English and French) and one Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. A tad heavier than the B100C, it weighs 270 grams and supports speaking function, USB, earphones and SD card. You can listen to speeches of popular personalities and also dig into works of renowned authors. If you come across a jargon-filled text on your PC, then the dictionary allows you to transfer it on the dictionary and search the meaning of every word. It delivers up to 130 hours of battery life and can be used with alkaline and rechargeable batteries. This model can also be connected to Casio projectors with the included USB cable. This electronic dictionary carries a higher price tag of Rs. 14,995.

Both electronic dictionaries are built to withstand drops and pressure, says the company. The side beams and aluminum alloy panels are crafted to protect the LCD and other electronic components. They can be picked from leading Casio dealer outlets and Book Stores in India.
