Facebook to now let you 'control everything' that you share.

Popularity, especially that in staggering numbers is a double-edged sword, and Facebook now knows it better. The social networking site, which now boasts of a user base of a whopping 800 million, was recently under the scanner of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The commission was acting on its concern over the privacy of the information, which users shared on Facebook. Now, a report in BBC claims that Facebook is making changes to its policy, after FTC intervened, giving way to some interesting changes.

The report reveals that Facebook will now allow users to have control over everything that they share on Facebook. The report further reveals that Facebook has also agreed to privacy audits, which would be carried out over a period of 20 years. Further, the report quoted founder, Mark Zuckerberg as stating in a TV show that users could pull any bit of information that they have put up on the site, and that they had control over whatever information they have added. FTC's statement over privacy and maintaining transparency would move over to other internet firms, too.

FTC has been increasingly looking at convincing internet bodies to be more open with the way they share personal data, and Facebook is being expected to follow suit.
