New Kindle Fire coming with an 8.9-inch display?

Amazon stepped into the tablet arena with its highly anticipated Kindle Fire, which hit the Indian market last month. Seemingly, it’s a common norm among manufacturers to build a 7-inch or 10-inch tablet. Amazon had a similar 10-inch display in mind for its next iteration of the Kindle Fire. However, the company is now prepping its next generation of Fire with a smaller 8.9-inch display, as per reports by DigiTimes.

Revealed by some anonymous sources from Amazon supply chain, the new iteration of the Fire will get the 7-inch screen replaced by an 8.9-inch display and not a 10-inch one, which was planned earlier. The news also has it that once the 8.9-inch Fire tablet hits markets, the company may release new versions/tablets with a screen size ranging between 9.7-inch and 10.1-inch, sometime next year. Reportedly, Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and LG Display (LGD), the company’s panel suppliers, have started developing the new 8.9-inch display. It is still unclear whether the Kindle Fire will get some updates in addition to the new display.
