The Optimus 2X to finally get Ice Cream Sandwich.

There’s been a lot of confusion in the past few days over LG’s software updates or the lack of them for their Optimus range of smartphones. Initially, Optimus 2X users were left dejected when LG stated via its Indian Facebook page that the Optimus 2X will not receive Ice Cream Sandwich. Thereafter, there was some hope as LG announced, again via their Facebook page, that at least Gingerbread would be coming to the Optimus 2X.

Now, the saga is finally taking a turn for the better as LG has mentioned for the third time, via its Facebook page that, ‘LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.’

That brings us to the next question - When will the other devices in the Optimus range of smartphones receive the same update? Those keen to know can head over to LG’s Official Facebook page and keep checking because if there will be an announcement, we’re betting it will be via their Facebook page.
