In early November, it was reported that the much awaited flagship handset from Google, the Galaxy Nexus was coming soon, but there was no indication as to when the handset would be launched in India. There were rumours floating around that it would be released in the first wave and would touch India in December. However, we have passed mid-December, but the first and only handset running Ice Cream Sandwich is yet to reach our shores. Their page remains the same with a message at the bottom stating ‘coming soon.’ According to a report by BGR.in, Samsung have informed them that the launch date of the handset has been postponed due to the vast amount of product releases in India, this month. The launch date has been re-scheduled to January.
It appears that we have to wait for a little while longer for it to be officially announced in India. But those who cannot wait to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, an unlocked version of the handset is available on ebay.in for Rs. 44,000. While this maybe a bit expensive for the handset, we can hope by the time the handset officially launches, it will be cheaper. If one really wants this handset before the Indian launch, they can hit the link here and it appears that on the Indian version of the online shopping portal, there is only one handset available in stock.
