IRCTC Mobile App to Make Reservations Easier in Feb.

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced the launch of mobile app for iOS, Android and Symbian in February which will make booking tickets an easier process. This comes close on the heels of updating their mobile version of the website.

The app will have the same features available on the website and once you book tickets you will receive complete details of your ticket including the PNR, train no, date of journey and class completely eradicating the need to print the e-ticket. In fact all you need is a valid Identification card like your pan card, license or passport.

Speaking to the Mobile Indian, an Indian railways spokesperson said, "Currently, a technical team of Indian Railways is working on an independent mobile app which will be available across all the platforms like Android, iOS and Symbian. It will be launched within the next one month."

It is interesting to note that the current website of IRCTC has a banner educating passengers in myriad ways to avoid printing of e-tickets. Environmental friendly seems to be the IRCTC's New Year resolution and we believe the app will only add to their noble intentions.
