Samsung Galaxy S III could be launched by April 2012.

Yesterday it was reported that the Galaxy Nexus has still to make its Indian debut and Samsung through their Twitter page had indicated that the possible date for availability in our country could be in March. It was noted that due to the handsets late introduction in India, potential buyers may get dissuaded as the Samsung Galaxy S III could possibly be announced by next month at the Mobile World Conference event in Barcelona. According to a report by PhoneArena, it appears that this may very well be the case as tech blogger Eldar Murtazin, in a series of tweets has stated that the Samsung Galaxy S III will land on shelves by April 2012. Leaving just around a month for Google’s flagship handset, the Galaxy Nexus, to make its mark in the market with Galaxy S III following close behind.

The report goes on to read that Eldar Murtazin indicates that he could possibly have the Galaxy S III in his possession. The Russian blogger states, “HD resolution, 12 mpx camera, sw tweaks, android 4 - i like my new phone. Eager to see official announcement in Barcelona.” He has also revealed a few specifications as to what the much anticipated handset may contain. These include an HD resolution display, a 12 megapixel camera and a 1.5-1.6GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android’s latest OS – Ice Cream Sandwich. The operating software also has a few tweaks which in all likelihood is Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. He goes on to state that the handset is definitely fast as it comes with a quad-core chip.

If Eldar Murtazin is to be believed about the launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S III, it may definitely cannibalize the Galaxy Nexus’ sales in India. It appears that Samsung may be getting their timing wrong by introducing the handset in India this late as one may opt for the new Samsung flagship handset which will drop just a few short weeks later. As of now we will just have to wait and see how Google and Samsung plan their marketing strategy in India. Do you feel the Samsung Galaxy S III will eat into the Galaxy Nexus’ sales?
