Sky Go video streaming app now on select Android devices.

Users expect their smartphones to multi-task, and watching TV while on the go makes it to this list of many users. Augmenting the TV channels made available for Android mobile devices, British broadcaster, Sky has jumped onto the bandwagon for select Android devices, reports PCAdvisor. The Sky Go app is a live TV enabling users to choose from 39 different channels. Google Android users can access live broadcasts from Sports channels like ESPN, Sky New, Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and also 11 Sky Movie channels.

As aforesaid, it is said to be compatible with only select devices, initially like the HTC Desire, Sensation, Incredible and Samsung Galaxy S range of smartphones. The Sky Sports F1 will be made available across Sky Go platforms in March, while Sky Movies will be announced later this year. Sky Go was rebranded earlier and was earlier known as Sky Player. It allows subscribers to watch mobile TV on PCs or iOS devices, offering over 30 channels.

"Sky Go is all about helping more people watch the TV they love wherever and whenever it suits them, so I'm delighted to announce the roll out of Sky Go to Android. We know how much Android users have been looking forward to the launch of Sky Go on Android smartphones, and we've done everything we can to make sure that our bespoke design is worth waiting for," said Holly Knill, Head of Sky Go.

Users can subscribe to packages or a user can also opt for a Sky Go Monthly Ticket. The price of the Ticket starts at £15 per month (for entertainment) and runs up to £40 (approx Rs.3,124) a month (for sports). Basically, it lets one access selected packages and also movies and TV shows on demand.

Apparently, Sky had started working on the Android app along with the iOS app, but due to uniformity, chose to go ahead with the latter, which can be used across the iPhone, iPad and iPod. However, now looking at the growing popularity of Android platforms, it may have built the app for select Android devices.
