BlackBerry preparing to launch Mini Keyboard for PlayBook.

With the announcement of PlayBook OS 2.0, everything seems to be heading in the right direction for Research in Motion. To build up on the success that’s being amassed after the release of their OS upgrade for the PlayBook, it appears that the brand is set to introduce a keyboard for the tablet that is dubbed, Mini Keyboard, a report by N4BB states. Fair enough that there are a handful of Bluetooth keyboards available for the device, but there is nothing quite as exciting as the brand itself launching a keyboard, made specifically for the PlayBook.

The report states that the Mini Keyboard for the PlayBook is expected to ship on the 23rd of March and will be available at a MSRP of $119, which translates to roughly Rs.5,870. The details of this keyboard come in the form of a brochure and it lists some of the salient characteristics that can be found on it. Some of the features expected here are multi-touch control capabilities allowing one to use the touchpad and navigate through and control the tablet, the ability to view the whole screen while typing, improved data entry, as BlackBerry claims that the touchpad enables greater precision and improved navigation as well as a 128bit encryption feature that allows one’s data to be protected. The report states that the Mini Keyboard is three products in one; which is keyboard, an integrated touchpad and a case.

It seems that Research in Motion is keeping the design of this keyboard as important as its functionality by making it easy to carry, as it is of the same size as the tablet. Apart from the above mentioned features, one can also charge this upcoming keyboard with the BlackBerry PlayBook charger and the leaked brochure claims that it will have a battery life of up to 30 days on a single charge.

An online retailer in the U.S is already putting this accessory up for pre-order and those who opt for the Mini Keyboard now can purchase it at an introductory price of $99. Knowing how well BlackBerry does in India, one can be quite certain that this yet to be announced, Bluetooth accessory will be available in the near future.
