HTC has announced a sizable list of devices that have been confirmed for the upcoming roll-out of Ice Cream Sandwich. In total, there are 16 devices that have already gotten the green light, though there’s no timetable for more than half of the phones on the list (thanks for telling us what we already knew, HTC).
“As for timing, we’re in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks. The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow. Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.”
Anyhoo, this was announced on the official HTC blog, so it looks like this may be the final list of “older” devices that will still be allowed to the Android 4.0 party.
Have a look below to see if you were lucky enough to have made a purchase that will survive the next wave of Android technology:
DROID Incredible 2 by HTC
HTC Amaze 4G
HTC Desire S
HTC Desire HD
HTC EVO 3D
HTC EVO Design 4G
HTC Incredible S
HTC Sensation
HTC Sensation XL
HTC Sensation 4G
HTC Sensation XE
HTC Raider
HTC Rezound
HTC Rhyme
HTC Thunderbolt
HTC Vivid
As an HTC Amaze owner, I’m definitely stoked to see my device on the list; however, I also own an HTC myTouch 4G and was really hoping that it would survive at least one more go-around. I guess there’s always hope that the CyanogenMOD team will keep the device alive with CM9 like they’ve been known to do in the past, right?
Do you own one of the phones on the list? How excited are you now that you know ICS is coming? Drop us a comment below!
