Nokia Lumia 610 expected in April, to cost Rs. 11,000 (approx.)

Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone budget handset is already up on their home site for a product overview. Nokia had made the device official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February and ever since, it’s been on and off the news radar with details about its impending release, its pricing and the fragmentation that it brings to the table, with Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh. Now, we’ve got some good news for those of you interested in buying a new budget smartphone. According to our sources in the market, the Lumia 610 is expected to debut in India in the month of April and is going to cost close to Rs. 11,000.

In case you have already forgotten, here's a list of the specifications for the Nokia Lumia 610:

Display: 3.7-inch LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
Processor: 800 Mhz single core
Camera: 5 MP camera
Video resolution: 1280 x 720 pixels, 30 fps
Internal memory: 8 GB
RAM: 256 MB
USB 2.0 high-speed through micro USB connector
3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot
Bluetooth wireless technology 2.1 + EDR
Battery: 1300 mAh Li-ion/Li-polymer
Weight (with battery): 131.5 g

As you can see, the Lumia 610 retains the same screen size as the Lumia 710 and there’s not too much of a difference in the form factor either. However, with that price tag, you are having a trade off with the processor speed and the RAM. We were pretty much impressed with the Lumia 710 and with the pricing going a couple of notches lower now, we are extremely excited about this upcoming offering from Nokia. At Rs. 11,000, it competes with the likes of the LG Optimus Net and the HTC Explorer. The HTC ChaCha, Samsung Galaxy Ace and the Optimus Hub are currently retailing close to Rs. 12,500 so they aren’t really in the same price bracket. What’s worth noting is that some of these phones are close to a year old now, so, the 11K price bracket seems like an interesting option considering there are very limited worthwhile options, at the moment.

If the Lumia 610 is indeed priced at Rs. 11,000, do you think Nokia will be hitting the sweet spot in the market? Would you go for the Lumia 610 at that price? Let us know in the comments section below.
