Oppo's Finder is the world's thinnest smartphone

Chinese manufacturer, Oppo’s new Android smartphone, the Finder has grabbed the title of being the world’s thinnest smartphone in the current crop of Android smartphones available in the market. While doing so, it also beat Huawei’s Ascend P1 S by a mere 0.03mm. On the spec front, the Finder is pretty impressive and it packs a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The phone comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. With an 8 megapixel rear camera supporting 1080p video recording and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, the available spec sheet of the Oppo Finder does look pretty impressive.

The phone has featured in a rather cool advert as well that compares it to the likes of the iPhone, which is 9.30mm ‘thick’, the Galaxy S II, which is 8.45mm thick and the RAZR which is 7.10mm thick. The Finder, however, as compared to them measures a mere 6.5mm. If thickness (or for that matter, thinness) is something that is extremely important to you, then we’ll throw in a few more numbers. From the current generation of quad-core phones, the HTC One X is 8.9mm thick, while Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S III measures in at 8.6mm. Coming back to the slim profile of Oppo’s smartphone, the Finder, heating issues and battery life may be two major concerns, but leaving those bits aside, it is definitely an impressive feat to cram these specs into a profile so thin.

As far as availability is concerned, according to Micgadget, the phone will be available for pre-order on June 6 and it will come at a cool price tag of 3,999 yuan (approx. Rs.34,973). The preview for the phone is available on a Thai website and if you want to get a few more glimpses of this phone, you can click here(http://www.mobiledista.net/preview-oppo-finder/). Chances that it will be launched internationally are pretty bleak at the moment, but now that a new benchmark has been set, the question is, how thin can thin get?
