Now no matter how much 3G data you use under any RCom plan, you will not be charged more than Rs 1,250.
RCom has reduced its pay as you go data plan for 3G by 90 per cent. Under the new pricing a user will be charged only 20 paise for every MB irrespective of whether they have subscribing to any particular data plan or exceeds data usage limit under any plan.
RCom earlier used to charge Rs 2 per MB for such 3G data usage while other operators continue to charge anything between Rs 2 to Rs 10 per MB to their 3G users.
RCom spokesperson confirmed to The Mobile Indian that the new tariff plan is valid for both mobile and data card users across all 13 circles where Reliance is offering 3G services and also, for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
Reliance has also announced a more than 60 per cent reduction in prices of its 3G data packs. In terms of 3G unlimited packs, there are three options priced at Rs 750, Rs 900 and Rs 1,200 at 3G speed upto 5 GB, 10 GB and 15 GB data usage respectively and unlimited data usage after that but at a lower speed 64 kbps.
The most important announcement from RCom apart from reduction of 3G data per unit charges is the announcement of bill cap at Rs 1,250. This means that no matter which pack you are using you will not charged over Rs 1,250 ever.
So under any plan if consumer exceeds the limit and reaches up to 6 GB data consumption (or Rs 1250), users speed after that will be reduced to 64 Kbps but will not be charged for consumption.
The new pricing means that if under the old plan or plans of Airtel and Idea Cellular, if you have subscribed to a 1 GB plan and exceed it by 1.5 GB, than you will be billed at Rs 250 plus Rs 3,000 at the rate of Rs 2 per MB (Rs 4,500 if the rate is 3 paisa/10 KB).
But with this new RCom plan user will be charged only Rs 550, the customer gets billed for Rs 250 as rental and Rs 300 extra usage (at Rs 0.2/MB for 1.5 GB) a total bill of Rs 550.
