Nokia have put up an image on their official Facebook page with the date reading 06.18.12, which means the Finnish company is planning on something for this Monday. We earlier reported about a super secretive event by software giants, Microsoft this Monday (as well) as the company is gearing for a major announcement, details of which are not clear. The image from Nokia’s Facebook page shows a satellite image over the north Pacific Ocean with Nokia maps buttons, along with the in your face date. Now, does this have any relation to Microsoft’s Monday event? If yes, then that’s definitely great news. But, if not, then are they stealing the thunder off Microsoft’s event? All Things D reports that there are chances that it could be a PureView launch for U.S shores. A lot of rumours circulating on social media sites, like Facebook are pointing towards a Windows Phone Nokia PureView, but chances are slim that may happen. However, there’s nothing concrete yet.
Microsoft have chosen to keep quiet on their Monday event and they haven’t responded to any replies or requests for comments. However, if Microsoft’s event is indeed about tablets, then we could have a new Microsoft tablet running on Windows 8 or Windows RT, the ARM-based variant. A whole slew of Windows 8 tablets were announced at Computex 2012 by manufacturers and if Microsoft (along with Nokia?) itself is entering this section, then it’s be going to be one interesting ride. Competition from the entire range of Android tablets so far hasn’t been able to topple the iPad so if Microsoft and Nokia are planning to launch the iPad killer, they sure know how not to do it.
On a similar topic, Microsoft has garnered a lot of excitement about its ‘major announcement’ and we do hope that they deliver the goods in about two days time. Come Monday, all will be revealed about what’s coming from both Microsoft and Nokia and we’ll be there to give you updates on our site and Twitter page, so stay tuned. Till then, any guesses on what’s coming up?
