Often to run programs quickly, Windows users will use the Windows+R hotkey configuration to pull up the Run bar and then type in a code like “mspaint” to quickly launch a Windows application. Now imagine an app that lets you do that for all apps and even files, by defining custom codes – this is precisely what a software called Famulus lets you do.
Famulus is a freeware app for Windows that lets you quickly launch stored files and installed applications. The app comes in an archive file sized less than 1 MB. You can extract its files and run the standalone EXE – installation is not required. The app’s icon appears in the System Tray and you can right click on it to enter “Commands” and define your file or software codes.
To execute a code simply hold down the numpad asterisk key on your keyboard to bring up the app’s text bar in the bottom right corner of your screen. Then type in a code and press the Enter key to run the corresponding app. You can also click on the arrow key to view and select from a list of recently run codes.
