Google is now introducing for its users - 'Power Searching with Google' - a free online, community-based course teaching users search techniques and how they can use them to 'solve real, everyday problems'. The course comprises six 50-minute classes, wherein users will be put through interactive activities to help them practice new skills. Through the course, users will also be able to 'connect with others using Google Groups, Google+, and Hangouts on Air.' Further, upon successful completion of the post-course assessment, users will be emailed their printable Certificate of Completion.

The course lessons, according to Mashable will be led by Google Senior Research Scientist Dan Russell. In his statement to Mashable, Russell added, "This is open to everyone, from beginner searchers to people who already know some of the tricks of the trade. For example, you can use the search box as a calculator or filter for images by color. This course is aimed at helping people to learn new search techniques so they can find what they need faster, no matter how they currently use search.” In his statement further, Russell revealed that the sign-ups for the course 'has been great so far', and he expects more to join in in. “We will be using lots of different Google technology to provide a rich, social, educational environment that should be a great learning experience,” he added further.
