Motorola will soon begin beta testing of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Motorola Xoom tablet.
Google is working to release the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Motorola Xoom tablet. The Motorola Xoom WiFi tablet owners in the USA are getting emails from the Motorola Forum administrators about getting the test build of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. AndroidCentral reported about the email sent out the Xoom WiFi owners and also speculated that the 'soak test' aka software for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.
Motorola usually holds up a soak test, a software beta test within closed group of select users before the official update for its devices are rolled out. The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Xoom WiFi tablets will be a vanilla build that is without any customisations.
Only the members of the Motorola Feedback Network are chosen for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean beta build testing and getting feedback on the usage experience. The invitations have been sent out for the soak tests. Considering the usual three-five week period, the Motorola Xoom WiFi owners can expect the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean richness on their tablet soon.
So far, there is no word on the other Android 3.x Honeycomb or Android 4.0 ICS running tablets for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. So far only Motorola Xoom is the one getting the Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich update meanwhile the other Android based tablets are still getting the Android 4.0 ICS update. We presume this update will take at least couple of weeks before it is pushed out for public.
