Google has stopped selling the 16GB version of Nexus 7 tablet on the Play Store. The product listing has been modified to reflect that it is coming soon and consumers can sign up to know when it arrives.
The Guardian writes that sources close to the search giant have revealed that Google seriously underestimated the demand and thus the 16GB version is nowhere to be found on Play Store for UK or US.
On the other hand, the 8GB version is still up for grabs, but we suspect it won’t last very long. Considering the positive reviews of the tablet, the demand isn’t surprising and Google/Asus should be seen it coming.
The publication also noted that Nexus 7 appears to have been a huge hit, although Google has not yet released any figures for sales. A spokesperson for Dixons Retail told Guardian that sales of the Nexus 7 have been “extremely brisk” but declined to say where it ranked against iPad or Kindle Touch.
Nexus 7, which was launched at Google I/O 2012, is company’s first foray in the tablet market and it runs on Jelly Bean with hardware specifications like Tegra 3 quad core processor, Wi-Fi connectivity, 8/16GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM.
