Google brings custom URLs to Google+ profiles, pages

Google yesterday introduced custom URLs across to profiles and pages. In an official blog post, Google's Saurabh Sharma detailed that a custom URL essentially is a short, easy to remember web address that links directly to a user's profile or page on the Google+. To explain it better, the post adds further that now popular automobile company, Toyota will use google.com/+toyota to introduce its latest models, while Britney Spears has her own custom URL google.com/+britneyspears.

The feature will be able to both people and pages. However, at the moment, Google is introducing it only to a limited number of verified profiles and pages. The post, however, affirms that over time, it will be rolled out across to more brands and people. At the moment, those to whom the custom URL feature has been rolled out, include - Hugo Boss, David Beckham, Britney Spears, Toyota, Delta Air Lines, among others.

Just this morning, we had reported about Google+ Hangouts On Air getting Studio Mode. In an official blog post, Google's Matthew Leske wrote that musicians can begin using the feature by first starting with Hangout On Air, they have to click on settings and make the transition from Voice to Studio Mode. What's different with Studio Mode is that it optimizes individual audio for music, rather than for conversation.  To know the difference better, Google urged users to listen to it with their favourite pair of headphones.

Google+ Hangouts On Air was introduced last year. The feature allowed Hangouts to be broadcast by specific users for public viewing. The feature became quite popular with the musician community among other sections who used it as a platform to connect with their fans.
