Google’s popular flagship tablet Nexus 7 was successfully overclocked to 1.6 GHz, according to a report by AndroidPit. When run through Quadrant’s benchmarking tool, the tablet gave a score of 7130. This is almost twice the score that an HTC One X gives when put through the same benchmarks.
A developer who goes by the name of Morfic, and his friends, installed the Trinity kernel on the device before they could overclock the Nexus 7’s quad-core processor to 1.64 GHz. Also worth noting is that the battery life didn’t suffer at all, according to the developer.
The developers haven’t tested the overclocked tablet to see if the boost in speed affects day-to-day tasks. But it is worth noting that the $199 Nexus 7 has beaten devices that cost thrice as much in benchmarks.

The tablet is available in two storage capacities - 8GB and 16GB, and the brand has priced it extremely competitively at $199 and $249, respectively.
As far as connectivity is concerned, there had been rumours that the Google Nexus 7 tablet would not come equipped with 3G connectivity in order to keep the price to a minimum, and the brand has done just that. The connectivity options found on this flagship Google Nexus 7 tablet include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC. This tablet also comes with Google Wallet pre-installed. As for the camera featured here, it comes as no surprise that Google has added only a front facing camera that can be used for video calls. What is interesting though, is that the camera can shoot HD 720p videos.
This 7-inch tablet measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm and weighs 340 grams. These dimensions allow it to go head-to-head with the Amazon Kindle Fire. The Google Nexus 7 is the first device running on Google’s latest operating system Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. As for availability, consumers from the US and the UK have been the first ones to get a taste of the Nexus 7. We hope that it comes to Indian shores soon.
