Apple's online radio service coming next year

The online radio service will allow devices to get access to music content on the go and apple might just add some more glitz to it as well.

California based Apple was rumoured to be working on setting up its own internet radio service for the mobile devices sometime back. Now Bloomberg has reported that executives from Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group Corp, and Sony Corp's music division recently met with Apple at the company's headquarters to discuss radio plans. Quoting its sources, the news website also pointed out that if the deal works out, which is expected to be finalised by Mid- November, the company might roll out the internet radio service by early next year, probably in the first three months itself.

The service is expected to offer music as per user's choice in terms of the type of music they like or the artist of their choice. But in a world filled with competitors offering similar service, it will be difficult for Apple to establish its name even with a free service. Along with a paid service, there is a bleak possibility that Apple could also offer free service with advertisement, but since Apple hardly offers free services as of now, the free radio services could better be ruled out.

Also the Apple's new music streaming service or online radio service is expected to be exclusive for Apple's wide variety of devices including the iPhones, iPads, iPods and the iMacs. But if all goes out well, there is a possibility that the service might be made available for other devices and platforms as well, something like Nokia is doing with the online radio service that remains exclusive for Windows Phone devices but with plans for other platforms too.
