Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite Android tablet for Rs 13,700 on pre-order

Huawei MediaPad Lite, comes as a value proposition complete with 3G calling and a faster 1.2 GHz processor.

Telecom equipment maker Huawei had announced its entry in the tablet market last year with the MediaPad tablet. Now the company is gearing up to enter the low cost tablet market with the Huawei MediaPad Lite, which will be the company's first low cost 3G tablet to hit the Indian market and will be available in the coming week or so. The Huawei MediaPad Lite will compete with other low cost counterparts like the Samsung Tab 2 310 and other 3G tablets from various Indian and international low cost manufacturers. The most exciting part of the device is that it is priced at Rs 13,700 and is available for pre order from Flipkart.com.

MediaPad 7 Lite features a 7 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and a capacitive multi point responsive touch system. The tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 architecture based processor, a 600 MHz graphics unit and 1 GB of RAM to keep things speedy. The device comes with a tiny 4 GB of internal storage, but it can be easily complemented with another 32 GB with micro SD cards. The operating system chosen by the company is Android 4.0 with an expected upgrade to Android Jelly Bean 4.1. Similar to the earlier MediaPad, Huawei has given this tablet a metal unibody for class, looks and strength.

The MediaPad will also feature integrated 3G with calling capabilities, but sadly enough the device misses out on an earpiece unit, like the one the Galaxy Tab 2 has, so users will have to rely on a wired/wireless headset or the loudspeaker while calling. For connectivity the MediaPad 7 Lite has b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth 3.0, and a 4,100 mAh battery for better backup as well.
