Idea introduces iRoam packs for globetrotters

Idea Cellular has launched a special international roaming offer called ‘iRoam’ for its postpaid subscribers. Idea is offering up to 75 percent discount on voice and data services with iRoam.

Starting today, Idea Postpaid subscribers can avail up to 75 percent discount on mobile phone usage when travelling to any of the 37 most frequently visited countries in the world, including UAE, USA, Singapore, UK, Thailand, China, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and Italy. The offer is valid for voice, SMS, and data usage for 30 days from the date of activation.

Speaking about the new offer, Sashi Shankar, chief marketing officer, Idea Cellular, said, “Today voice and data usage is integral for International roamers - both business as well as leisure travelers. Our latest offer will cater to them, while also offering seamless connectivity, using the same number, for those customers travelling overseas, thus making their stay more affordable and convenient. We are confident that the new offer will provide immense benefits to international roamers during the festive season.”

Special rates of the Idea ‘iRoam’ pack are applicable on international roaming services such as incoming calls, outgoing calls, SMS, and data use. To activate the iRoam data pack, users should send an SMS with the text ACT<space>DR2500 to 12345.

Idea has launched a special 'iRoam' pack for users travelling to the USA, which offers discounts of up to 90 percent on existing rates, as per the company statement. These special rates are applicable on AT&T US network. To activate the iRoam USA Pack for voice, data, and SMS, users should type the text message, ACT<space>US1500, and send it to 12345.

The 'iRoam' packs are applicable while roaming on Idea’s preferred network provider in the country. Those seeking more details about the network provider, and the terms and conditions can read about them at www.ideacellular.com/internationalroaming.

In September this year, Idea expanded its 3G devices portfolio with the addition of a new dual-SIM smartphone called ‘Aurus’. Idea’s latest offering, Aurus, is an Android-based handset, and will be among the most affordable smartphones in the market to offer video calling facility.

The fourth phone in the Idea 3G Smartphone portfolio, the Idea Aurus also offers Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, 800MHz processor, superior 3.5-inch multi-touch screen display, and cloud backup functionality. It has a built-in music player with bundled in-ear headphones. The handset packs a 5-megapixel primary camera (using software interpolation), along with a front camera to support video calls.
