Acer Iconia B1 tablet for Rs 7,999 in India


Acer has formally introduced its affordable Iconia B1 tablet with dual core 1.2 GHz MediaTek processor, 7 inch display and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Acer has finally announced its affordable 7 inch Iconia B1 tablet for the Indian market. The new Acer Iconia B1 tablet houses a low-power dual core mobile processor and packs 8 GB on board storage. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and is aimed at consumers who wish to read ebooks, browse the mobile web, play casual games and connect over social networks. The Iconia B1 will be sold in India for Rs 7,999.

Acer has jumped into the competition of affordable Google Android tablets. After the recent release of Asus Google Nexus 7, several budget segment tablet makers were shaken enough to up their game to compete with it. Meanwhile, Acer has just stepped in the game with a sub-Rs 9,000 tablet - Iconia B1.

The new Iconia B1 features a 7 inch LCD display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and it also supports multi-touch. Under the hood, it packs a low-power dual core 1.2 GHz Mediatek MTK 8317T mobile processor clubbed with 512 MB RAM to power the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. By default, the tablet offers 8 GB on board storage, part of which would be reserved for system updates. One can always add up to 32 GB via micro SD card to expand storage.

The wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and GPS. There is a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera to click portrait images and support video chat. Packing a micro USB 2.0 charging port, the Iconia B1 has a 2710 mAh battery to make it last for about 8 hours.

At that price, the Iconia B1 from Acer certainly looks a great product and is ideally meant for the educational as well as edutainment sector. Iconia B1 weighs about 320 grams and also has internal speakers for audio.

Iconia B1 tablet will be made available through popular electronic outlets and authorised dealers in India.
