MyShelf: Store Notes For Easy Access Without The Cloud

If you regularly frequent the Internet, you’ve probably heard of Evernote, a cloud-based note-saving service which many people enjoy. However, some things that you’ll want to save may be pretty personal, and you don’t want to push that data into the cloud where you don’t have outright ownership of it. If this is an issue for you, you’ll need to have an application that will be just as effective but save everything locally so only you have the data.

MyShelf is an application which lets you store all your “notes, pictures, links, text snippets of any kind” in a visually appealing fashion. The program is available for all major platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows. Mac OS X and Linux are also supported via Java.

The main selling point for this app is that it stores everything locally and doesn’t use the cloud to store and synchronize. With the app, you’re welcome to use your own methods of synchronization which do not use the cloud if you need that functionality, but otherwise each device’s “shelved” items won’t appear on another’s.

Features:

  • Works on all major platforms.
  • Own your data — no cloud functionality.
  • Visually appealing.
