Samsung launches 5 inch Galaxy Grand in India for Rs 21,500


It comes with Android Jelly Bean, 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM and lot other innovative features

As reported by The Mobile Indian earlier, Samsung today launched its much discussed Galaxy Grand Android smartphone in India for Rs 21,500.

The dual SIM based handset is powered by Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system and runs on a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. It has a healthy 1 GB RAM as well. It comes with a 5.0 inch TFT screen with WVGA resolution. Besides, the phone has an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash and a 2 megapixel front camera which supports zero shutter-lag and ultra-quick camera start-up. It includes a backside illumination sensor to ensure clear shots even in dark conditions, as well as Full HD video recording.

Apart from that the Galaxy Grand has GPS and GLONASS for navigation, 3G, DLNA, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0. The Galaxy Grand comes with a powerful 2,100mAh battery and an internal memory of 8 GB out of which 4 GB is available for the users. One can also use a micro SD to expand it memory to up to 64 GB. The device is available in Elegant White and Metallic Blue color options.

Speaking at the launch, Asim Warsi, vice president, Samsung Mobile, stated, "The Galaxy Grand is revolutionary not only in terms of the great smartphone experience that it provides but also in terms of its value proposition. I feel the Galaxy Grand will further fuel the growth of the Smartphone market in India and will especially delight consumers looking for a great Smart Dual SIM phone. The Galaxy Grand best meets the growing consumer preference for a large screen device that gives them a great multimedia experience and superior performance."

The phone comes with lot of premium features that are there in the Samsung Galaxy SIII. For instance, the Galaxy Grand comes with the 'Direct Call' feature that enables users to automatically dial a call by raising the device up to the ear; while users can also shake the phone to trigger status updates, or pan it to zoom into a screen.

Another 'Smart Alert' feature in the handset shows missed events such as missed calls and new messages when users pick up the phone. The Galaxy Grand has also the S Voice feature that helps the user to control the phone using their voice. The device also features a unique Face & Voice Unlock that enables the users to lock and unlock their device with face or voice recognition, providing greater security and convenience.

As a special introductory offer, Samsung is also offering a Flip Cover in the box and users can download music and movies through 'My Services' worth Rs 8,000 free along with 50 GB Dropbox space. Vodafone users also get 2 GB data download free per month for 2 months.

The phone will bolster the mid range of Samsung Galaxy series and will also provide an option for people who want large screen device without spending large sum on buying the Galaxy Note II, and also don't want to go for the cheaper options from the Indian brands. With the launch of this device, Samsung now offers a range of 6 dual SIM Smartphones and a total of 14 smartphone models priced in the range between Rs 6,990 and Rs 39,900.
