Google to launch Google Glass for mass market by end-of-2013

Google has told The Verge that it will be releasing the Google Glass for mass market by the end of this year. It also revealed that it is also looking to create a whole ecosystem around Google Glass, including partnerships with prescription lenses makers and so on.

“Well, we finally have official word from Google that it is aiming to release a “fully-polished” version of the wearable headset to consumers by the end of this year,” The Verge noted in a report.

There is no word on the exact final pricing, but company did say that it aims to price it below USD 1500, the amount it charged the initial Google Glass buyers at Google I/O 2012. We anticipate the mass market version to be much cheaper if Google does not it to become a niche product, and similar sentiment were echoed by Steve Lee, Product Director, Google Glass in an interview with The Verge.

Google has recently begun looking for more Glass Explorers (sort of new beta testers) in the United States, who will be lucky to get early access to the product.

What is Google Glass: It is wearable augmented reality device powered by Android.
