RCom to launch 5 Lenovo smartphones by March


The phones will be priced below Rs 8,000 & will based on Android OS and will have 1 GHz processor.

Reliance Communications (RCom), in association with Lenovo, will launch five Android smartphones with both CDMA and GSM capability in India by March this year.

A spokesperson of RCom said to The Mobile Indian, "RCom and Lenovo will launch five co-branded Android smartphones under Rs 8,000 by March in the country and they will be available with attractive tariff plans that will be announced during the launch of smartphones."

The spokesperson further added, "All the smartphones will be dual SIM (GSM + CDMA) in which CDMA SIM will be locked to RCom network and user will be free to choose GSM SIM of any operator of their choice."

The Reliance-Lenovo co-branded smartphones will operate on Android operating system and will come with a dual core 1 GHz processor. The range of products and special customer plans will be available across 2500 Reliance stores and 1000 company stores of Lenovo.

Sources familiar with the development have said to The Mobile Indian, "This partnership will not be just limited to smartphones as in the next few months RCom and Lenovo will launch co-branded tablets as well and they are expected to be priced at around Rs 12,000."
