Aakash 3 coming in 3 months with SIM calling facility

It is expected to have same features as UbiSlate 7C+.

The third generation of Aakash tablet will be launched around mid this year, according to Datawind which also had made the earlier two versions of the tablet.

"The third generation of Aakash is expected to be launched in mid-2013. The specifications are expected to be finalized by the NMEICT (National Mission for Education through Information Communication Technology) before end of March 2013," Datawind said on its website.

"DataWind recommends that Aakash 3 also include an embedded cellular modem, allowing it to take a regular SIM and provide anytime/anywhere internet connectivity," the company further added.

The earlier two Aakash tablets had only WiFi connectivity. As per the recommendations, Aakash 3 is expected to have likewise features as the UbiSlate 7C+ which was launched along with Aakash II. The UbiSlate 7C+ is priced at Rs 4,999 and come with Cortex A8 1GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal memory, and a front VGA camera.

The specifications are not that laudable as many other manufacturers are offering tablets for as low as Rs 3,000 with almost the same features as the UbiSlate 7C+ has.
