There has been a lot of confusion regarding the ZTE Grand Memo smartphone since the official announcement few days ago. While, company claimed the phone to be running on all new Snapdragon 800 processor at the press event, the Qualcomm came out to reveal that Grand Memo will have Snapdragon 600 not 800.
ZTE’s Grand Memo announcement press release was no help either; the release also stated the presence of Snapdragon 800 in the phone. Journalists present at MWC were baffled to find Memo on display at the ZTE booth running on neither Snapdragon 800 nor Snapdragon 600, but S4 Pro processor with half of the claimed RAM capacity.
Finally, there seems to be some clarity on the matter now. Few ZTE officials that spoke to Android Central at MWC have revealed that ZTE Grand Memo will be sold in different variants across the globe. Some of these variants will indeed have Snapdragon 800 on-board. It is also likely that RAM will differ in these models.
We still don’t know where and when to expect these variants of ZTE Grand Memo. Company might have clarified its stand to Android Central; we would certainly have like a proper press statement from the company given the mess it had made.
To remind you, ZTE Grand Memo packs 5.7-inch display, which will come with 720p resolution.
Update: ZTE has also clarified on the matter to Engadget. According to which, there are two versions of Grand Memo: one with a Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 destined for China, and a European model packing a Snapdragon 800 with LTE.
