LG confirms smartphone with flexible OLED display by year end

LG expects to introduce its first smartphone with flexible OLED display in the fourth quarter of this year.

If you are wondering about a flexible display bearing smartphone, your wait would be over very soon as LG is planning to launch such a handset, The Wall Streen Journal has reported.

Yoon Bu-Hyun, vice president of mobile division of LG, told the Journal that LG is planning to release its first smartphone with flexible OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display. This smartphone will be made available sometime by this year end. LG did not share much detail on the same and thereby left everyone clueless about the device.

Flexible displays have been showed at the annual conventions such as Consumer Electronics Show and others since last couple of years. However, these displays are still not commercialised due to high cost factor.

However, we don't know how exactly the flexible display work. Whether the display would be like a flip phone, a slider or regular candy bar form factor device. There are no details about the specifics of the smartphone. However, LG does aim to announce the device by year end.
