Videocon announces its first quad core phone


Named as Videocon A47, it will come with a 4.7 inch qHD display, 1.2 GHz quad core processor, 12 MP rear camera and a 3 MP front camera.

Videocon Mobile, a home grown electronics giant, has announced its first quad core Android smartphone. Named as Videocon A47, the phone sports the same chipset as Micromax Canvas HD A116 as well as the same 1.2 GHz quad core processor of MediaTek. It has also 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory (1.5 GB user usable).

Videocon A47 sports a slightly smaller 4.7 inch qHD display and Android 4.1 Jelly bean operating system. In the camera department it has a 12 megapixel camera with flash and a 3 megapixel front facing camera.

The phone is powered by a 1800 mAH battery and comes with 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS for connectivity. The Videocon A47 is also very slim at just 8.8 mm thickness and supports dual SIM with dual standby feature.

The price of the phone has not been announced but it is likely to be priced below Rs 11,000 mark when it hits the market in next couple of days.
