B&N reduces Nook tablet, e-reader prices in UK


Barnes & Noble has announced that it is reducing the prices of its entire line of e-readers and tablets in the UK market. The company adds that these prices are valid for a limited period, but did not mention any exact dates.

Nook Tablets, which run on a custom version of Android, will now be available at the following prices at major retailers like Argos, ASDA, Blackwell’s, Foyles, Currys and PC World, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Very, and NOOK.co.uk.

NOOK HD – £129 (8GB) for the 7-inch tablet, down from £159.
NOOK HD+ – £179 (16GB) for the 9-inch tablet, down from £229.
On the other hand, the e-readers are getting even more affordable.

NOOK Simple Touch – £29, down from £79
NOOK Simple Touch GlowLight – £69, down from £109.
“As part of its involvement in the Get London Reading programme, NOOK is offering its eReaders and tablets at special value prices for a limited time only,” Nook Media LLC, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc., noted in a press release.

Here is a look at the key specs of Nook tablets:

Nook HD: 7-Inch 1440x900p display, 1.3GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4470 processor, 1GB RAM, and microSD card slot.
Nook HD+: 9-inch 1920x1280p display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot.
