Some new details have popped up on the Google Smart Watch front, suggesting that the device is indeed real and might be showcased soon. According to a report in Android Authority, sources close to Google has told them that Google Smart Watch features Glass-like functionality and will be made by Motorola.
“Android smart watch is now in physical form. The watch has been shown in at least three different Google offices: Berlin, Manchester, and Mountain View. We were told the original watch rumors popped up when displayed in a rough form at the Berlin and Manchester offices. Having recently been shown off at the Mountain View campus, the watch is set for release sometime soon,” Android Authority wrote in a post.
There is no way to confirm the authenticity of these claims, so take them with a pinch of salt. Given the reports in the past and the latest report, it is pretty much certain that Google is working on some kind of smart watch, but we won’t read too much into the Motorola manufacturing part.
Despite buying Motorola, Google is yet to use the company for any of the self-designed products, and if it changes with Smart Watch, the Motorola buy will finally be of some use to Google.
If we agree with AA source for a moment and believe that Motorola is indeed working with Google on Smart Watch, It won’t be something new for the company. Motorola has earlier worked on MotoACTV – a smartwatch with a focus on health related activities. So, Motorola does have experience and it would be great if Google puts it to use.
To remind you, Google isn’t the only company to be working on a smart watch, Apple, Samsung and LG have also been reported to be working on their respective smart watch devices.
We don’t see Smart Watch appearing at Google I/O 2013, so we will to wait for a while to actually see the device. We are actively tracking this and will let you guys know if anything new pops up.
