Huawei to launch world's slimmest smartphone this year

Huawei is preparing to introduce the slimmest smartphone dubbed as Ascend P6 that measures 6.2 mm thick.

Huawei is toiling hard to be amongst the top handset makers with its variety of smartphone offerings. This year Huawei plans to introduce slim and metal shell carrying devices. Popular Twitter account EVLeaks shared details about an upcoming Huawei smartphone - Ascend P6.

The new model in the Ascend series is to feature a 4.7-inch display with 720p HD resolution. No other information about the device was revealed.

Huawei is competing with Samsung, LG, Apple, HTC and other smartphone makers striving to churn out slim devices. Huawei had introduced the Ascend P1 S which was crowned as the world's thinnest smartphone and now with the Ascend P6, the company wants the crown back.

Slimmer yet powerful smartphones is what one should expect to see in next couple of months. With several components getting smaller and thin, the smartphones are also becoming relatively lighter than those sold about five years ago.
