It is not the first time that we are hearing about LG’s involvement in the Nexus 4 successor but each new report further confirms the fact that we might actually see next Nexus phone from LG and these are not just some random rumours.
Korea Times is reporting that Google CEO Larry Page met LG Electronics CEO Koo Bon-joon during his recent trip to South Korea and both executives discussed varied range of topics including taking the partnership between the firms to a next level by working on OLED televisions, and even projects like Google Glass.
“Currently, the consumer electronics arm of LG Group is working with Internet-giant Google to make another Nexus-branded Google Android smartphone. LG is seeking to expand its partnership in TVs and future businesses, such as Google Glass,” noted Korea Times in the report.
Korea Times adds:
LG needs help from Google to continue its business momentum in smartphones and TVs. That’s why Koo met Page,” said the sources.
The sources said the two executives also discussed issues regarding the launch of an LG-Google OLED TV. Currently, Google is partnering with LG to produce Google-enabled sets.
The report does not go into details about Nexus 4 successor, but given the popularity of current Nexus 4, it would make sense for Google to let LG work on the next generation as well. It would be interesting to see what is included in Nexus 5 or whatever it is called – we expect to see Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 1080p display, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, front camera and Android 5.0.
