Mozilla has revealed that it has partnered with Foxconn-parent Hon Hai to build a Firefox OS device. The device, which is reportedly a tablet, will be announced at a press event on June 3, noted Reuters.
Hon Hai, which is the world’s biggest contract manufacturer of electronics, is the 19th company to partner with Mozilla for Firefox OS devices.
“Most of the mobile devices that Hon Hai manufactures run on Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android systems. Hon Hai said it would add Firefox to its product line for clients,” Reuters added.
According to a recent report by WSJ, Hon Hai, which has profited a lot by assembling Apple devices, is looking for new clients and tie up with Mozilla is a step in the same bid.
Both the companies will be formally announcing their tie-up on June 3.
