Nexus version of Samsung Galaxy S4 coming in June

Samsung Galaxy S4 nexus edition will come with the same hardware but a stock Android and will be sold through Google Play store for $649 (Rs 35,500)

Google will launch the Nexus edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 next month. The phone will get the same hardware as the Samsung Galaxy S4 but will come with stock Android (probably the 4.3).

Google through its official blog said, "Also, coming next month to Google Play is a special Samsung Galaxy S4, which brings together cutting edge hardware from Samsung with Google's latest software and services-including the user experience that ships with our popular Nexus devices".

The phone will be sold through Google Play store in USA starting June 26th for $649 (Rs 35,500). Google has not announced plans for other markets as of now, but we do expect the phone to be launched in all major markets.

While Nexus based devices get the pure Android experience and are the first to receive Android updates, Galaxy S4 nexus will lose out on features like dual camera video, smart stay (keeps display on till you are looking at it), or the feature that pauses the video when you are not looking at it.

The version of Samsung Galaxy S4 available in India features an eight core Exynos 5 Octa 5410 mobile processor, clocked at 1.6 GHz and the new PowerVR SGX544MP3 graphics chip. It has 2 GB RAM and comes in three 16 GB storage variants, while the one in USA features Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Quad core chipset.

The Galaxy S4 features a 5 inch full HD Super Amoled display built using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. Galaxy S4 is just 7.9 mm thick and weighs 130 grams.

At the back, Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and zero shutter lag features. This camera is capable of recording full HD videos and clicking high quality images. There is also a front facing camera capable of clicking high quality self-portraits and video.

For connectivity, the Galaxy S4 has WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and infrared LED for remote control. The Samsung Galaxy S4 runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a layer of the latest Nature UX as part of TouchWiz UI. For longer run time, Samsung has packed a 2600 mAh battery and will also offer an extra battery kit as part of the accessories.
