Nokia launches Whatsapp competitor Nokia Chat for devices


The Cross platform client is capable of working on Nokia Lumia, Asha and Symbian powered devices

Finnish mobile device manufacturer, Nokia, has tied up with Yahoo messenger to launch Nokia Chat messenger for Nokia range of devices.

This cross platform chat client would be competing with other messaging clients like Whatsapp and Nimbuzz.

The tie up will also enable Yahoo! Messenger users on other mobile devices and platforms to access Nokia Chat friends who use Lumia, Asha, S40, and Symbian devices.

Nokia chat is available for Nokia devices running on Windows Phone platform, Symbian platform and even the S40 or Asha platform as well. But since the application and service is in Beta phase Nokia Chat for Windows Phone is available in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Finland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela.

Nokia Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 get additional bunch of features including Speech to text, Voice Commands and Lock Screen Notifications along with the regular features that include messaging, file sharing and even location sharing powered with Nokia here maps.
