Nokia planning to introduce large screen phablets

Industry sources spin rumors about Nokia's discussions with Asia-based component vendors for large screen phablet devices.

Most smartphone makers have offered at least one large screen phablet device which are basically a hybrid of smartphone and tablet with large display. Thus Nokia is also planning to join the race for the phablet devices, according to a report of DigiTimes. However, it is quite possible that we would see a large screen phablet by the end of this year.

As per the report, which quoted some anonymous industry sources, Nokia is in discussions with Asia-based component vendors for the phablet devices. Quite possible that Nokia, like Samsung, is aiming to introduce a 5-inch or higher display size bearing device. Large display also means more work for panel makers and thus the production of the same might spike.

However, as of now Nokia's primary focus would be to ship the Nokia EOS Lumia smartphone with 4.5-inch HD display, Lumia style design and will sport 41 megapixel image sensor. This smartphone is expected to launch sometime in the second half of this year.
