Samsung’s entry-level Android smartphone Galaxy Star is now available online in the country. The smartphone, which was first showcased at Samsung Africa forum and then announced in April, has been priced at INR 4,990 and can be purchased from Infibeam.
Samsung Galaxy Star is the first Android smartphone from the Korean manufacturer to get a sub-INR 5,000 price at launch. It runs on Android 4.1 and is powered by 1GHz processor.
The phone also features 3-inch QVGA display, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and 1200 mAh battery.
For the first time smartphone buyers, who don’t have any problem in using a small screen phone and lack of 3G, this is probably the best option right now.
Samsung India is also expected to start selling Galaxy Pocket Neo, another budget Android phone, in the coming days. The phone has already been listed on the company’s website along with Galaxy Star.
