Some time back we had reported about BlackBerry's upcoming Q5 smartphone. Now First Post, which has cited some market sources, claimed that the phone will be launched in India next week for Rs 25,000.
This will be an important move for BlackBerry as its first two devices on latest Blackberry 10 operating system, the Z10 and Q10, are too expensive as they are priced above Rs 40,000.
BlackBerry Q10, with which Q5 shares many of its hardware, was made of premium material and is therefore costly. But, Q5 would offer the same performance as it comes with 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 2GB RAM as the Z10 and Q10.
BlackBerry Q5 has a 3.1-inch screen with 720 x 720 resolution at 329 pixels per inch as the Q10. However, BlackBerry Q5 has a LCD TFT panel and not the Super AMOLED like Q10. Beside, Blackberry Q5 comes with 8 GB internal memory, 64 GB expandable storage slot, and a 2180 mAh non removable battery which is slightly bigger than BlackBerry Q10.
The BlackBerry Q5 has a 5 megapixel camera at the back with an LED flash while a 2 megapixel unit is in the front. The phone supports 3G, LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth. Accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity, gyroscope, and ambient light sensors are too in the Q5 which has an built-in digital compass as well.
BlackBerry Q5 is expected to come with complete MapMyIndia suite for free like Blackberry Z10. It will come with its share of corporate security features as well.
