Following the outcry over the missing easy way to save maps for offline use in its revamped Google Maps for Android app, Google has released a small update to introduce a button for saving offline maps. The update went live earlier today and allows users to easily save maps for offline use.
The feature is nothing new, and just mimics the functionality, which was being provided by ‘Ok Maps’ command in Google Maps 7.0.
“We know some of you are missing an easy way to access maps offline. That’s why our engineering team has been working around the clock to add a “Make this map area available offline” card below the search box for easier access. And, if you still want some #thumbercise, typing “ok maps” will work too,” Google noted in a Google+ post.
“With this update, we’ve also added a “Where’s Latitude?” link at the bottom of the side menu which provides more information about the future of location sharing,” the company added.
If the Google Maps app has already been updated to version 7.0 on your Android device, you will soon receive the latest update; else you will directly get the latest version in the coming days.
