HTC has reportedly issued a statement to the tech press that it will not be releasing Android 4.2.2 or Sense 5 update for its HTC One S smartphone. Originally announced alongside HTC One X last year, HTC One S currently runs on Android 4.1.
“We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences,” HTC noted in the statement.
The latest confirmation comes days after HTC France told the same to a consumer on its official Facebook page that there will be no further Android updates for One S. The company might push stability or other bug-fixes updates to the phone but in terms of the Android updates, it is the end of road for this smartphone.
This is certainly sad news for HTC One S owners, who have been waiting for the update for a long time now.
We all know that HTC is struggling in the smartphone market and in such times, do you think that it is wise for the company to alienate its existing consumers by not providing software updates to high-end devices?
