Over two months after Google acquired Waze, the first benefits of this buy-out are getting to the actual consumers. Google today announced that Maps users on Android will now be able to see real-time incident reports made by the Waze app users.
“Users of Google Maps for Mobile will now benefit from real time incident reports from Waze users. This means when Wazers report accidents, construction, road closures and more on Waze, the updates will also appear on the Google Maps app for Android,” Google noted in a blog post.
This feature is currently being rolled-out in select countries but other regions should get in the coming months. According to Google, users in United States, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Switzerland will get getting Waze incidents reports in Google Maps beginning today.
Waze has revealed that these incident reports that appear in Google Maps for Android will not be carrying Waze user profiles but Wazers will still get points for these incidents reports.
